A Technology Based Grant Proposal for Transformative Learning
Please view my complete proposal here: DreamIT
Technology can be extremely powerful in education when used and applied as a tool to create purposefully and meaningfully designed learning experiences. So why then are there still so many teachers not engaging with technology in the classroom or using it solely for substitution purposes?
I have created a proposal that addresses the need for a transformation in the current educator approach to educational technology resulting in more effective and authentic development of 21st century skills in our students.
For the DreamIT grant proposal, I was able to dream big and thinking creatively about how I would intelligently integrate new technologies to help student understanding within my subject area in a transformational way. I thought critically about the proposal design using Understanding by Design as a framework to identify key understandings that I desired to see from learners. I also used the technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) framework as guide to finding the content, technology and pedagogy to support those understandings. This proposal introduced a huge cultural shift within the current practices that our school building used to purchased technology, plan professional development and integrate technology within curriculum. I communicated both a plan and justification for the design choices in that plan to administrators and teachers in order for it to lead to successful change.
