In collaboration with my colleagues and some esteemed guests, I helped to create and host a webinar on a key topic in educational technology: Intellectual Property and Copyright in the Classroom. Our goal was to communicate and address common questions that educators have like:
- What is copyright?
- Why do educators need to understand it?
- What is considered fair use in the classroom?
- What are resources teachers can use?
My particular role beyond thinking critically about our topic and how to best address it was also leading and monitoring the technical aspects of the webinar itself such as audio, video quality, screen sharing, and more. Through this webinar, we hoped to encourage a culture of questioning amongst educators so that we can continue to grow in our practice and model the most effective technology practices for our students.
